Junior Practitioner and Agency Development

Alan Bason MBA
Rural Business practitioner
Alan joined Berrys in May 2005, working from both the Northwich and Shrewsbury offices.  Predominantly working with the farming community Alan uses his practical experience obtained from working on the family farm and managing a dairy unit with the business skills obtained during the past five years.  Alan’s core areas of work are asset management, business restructuring, establishing diversification options, which includes obtaining grant funding.  Alan has also developed a detailed understanding of the many issues surrounding the single farm payment.  Contact alan.bason@berrybros.com or 01606 49200

Gary Conaghan
Practitioner, Berrys Kettering

Gary joined Berrys in November 2007 as the assistant property manager in the estates management team with Adam Farnsworth.

Working from the Kettering office Gary is involved in the day to day management of the property portfolios which are predominantly rural based but with a number of urban properties. His work will include property lettings, inspections and maintenance.

Richard has long been established in Northampton and joined Berry’s in 2007 when his practice became part of the Berrys Group.

James Fulton BSc(Hons)
Rural Business Practitioner
James joined Berrys Kettering office in November 2004 working closely with Jon Stables managing the in hand farms and providing advice to farmers on DEFRA schemes including Single Farm Payment, ELS and HLS.  He has a keen interest in commodity marketing and business management and enjoys the job as he gets to spend time both in the office, meeting clients and field walking.  James completed a degree in agriculture at Nottingham University and is now working towards his RICS and CAAV exams.  Contact jmf@berrybros.com or 01536 532386

IT and communications manager
Tom started with Berrys at the Kettering office in November 2004, after 2 years as Project Manager for Fairfield Control Systems, and working for Syngenta, Nottingham Trent University, and The Univeristy of Nottingham. Tom manages and develops the IT and communication systems for the company. Tom is a member of the British Computer Society and the Chartered Management Institute, a PRINCE2 qualified practitioner (http://www.p2registeredpractitioner.com)and is currently studying for his MCSE. Geoffrey joined Berrys in August 2004 when his firm of Sutcliffe & Company was acquired. Working from the Northwich office he continues to deal with gas pipelines, now on behalf of National Grid in the North West and United Utilities in the North East. Heather is a freelance agricultural journalist and public relations consultant and works part time for Berrys based at the Shrewsbury office. She is also editor of the monthly farming magazine, The Farmer. She delivers Berrys communication programme, preparing press releases and promotion material to spread the word about all aspects of Berrys work through national farming press, regional media and events. Rural Business Consultant, farming policy and general farm advice.
Simon joined Berrys Shrewsbury office in Jan 2002 as a rural business consultant having spent 12 years analysing and costing farms for the Farm Business Survey. Simon advises a wide range of business clients on aspects of finance, organisation and marketing. Sarah joined Berrys in spring 2003, a honours graduate in Business & French from the University of Wales, Bangor. She specialises mainly in Estate Management, letting and managing a wide variety of both urban and rural property throughout the North West. Sarah also assists Graham Bowcock in agency, compulsory purchase, compensation and other professional matters, she commenced studying towards her RICS membership in October.

John rejoined Berrys Kettering office in October 1998 working on the sale of residential property, professional valuations for probate and loans, surveys, advice on boundaries and preparing plans for Land Registry. He has considerable experience in building construction and historic buildings and an extensive knowledge of marketing of property and land. Sarah Rawlins joined Berrys in 2003 having graduated with an honours degree in Rural Estate Management from Seale Hayne. She is a member of the RICS and fellow of the CAAV and as part of Berrys Shropshire office Sarah works on property valuations and sales, management and other professional services including compensation.

Sarah is from a farming family and enjoyed riding and hunting over Salisbury Plain from an early age. Sarah enjoys riding her own horse and is a keen follower of point to pointing.

“I believe there are a vast number of property and horse owners who do not have the benefit of specialist equestrian advice to assist them in selling, managing and operating their property and business, said Sarah.

Amanda joined Berrys Shrewsbury in 2000 after completing her degree in Rural Enterprise and Land Management at Harper Adams. Since starting at Berrys, Amanda has been involved in many aspects of rural business, property, and professional work.  She now works closely with Stephen Locke, specialising in environmental consultancy, planning and development, rural business, diversification projects, and grant funding.

Richard joined Berrys in August 2006 after completing his B.Sc. (Hons) in Rural Land Management at the Royal Agricultural College. He is working closely with Nick bowman on a broad spectrum of farmland sales to development work and valuations. Richard was brought up on his family's mixed arable and livestock farm and has a keen interest in agriculture, particularly livestock. He is now working towards his RICS and CAAV exams.
