Gerry joined Berrys in 1963 – then Berry Bros & Bagshaw and J. Toller Eady - at the Kettering Office, and is now involved in all aspects of rural surveying and management. Gerry was a full partner of Berrys until retirement from the partnership at the end of March 2006, and now works only on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

Emily joined Berrys in July 2008, after completing her A Level exams. She joined the Northwich Office, assisting Graham Bowcock and Sarah Massey with the development of the agency side of the business, along with other core areas such as management. She also plays a role in the marketing of the Northwich branch, assisting both Graham and Sarah within the promotion of the agency services Berrys has to offer.

Peter Baron MRICS
Utility Specialist, Northwich Office
Peter joined Berrys in 2008, and operates principally from the Northwich Office whilst assisting with other projects managed at Shrewsbury. Peter is a Member of the RICS with considerable experience of Utility matters, having specialised in electricity utility works during employment with Scottish Power and United Utilities over a period in excess of 20 years. He is currently involved with land matters, valuation and compensation work associated with major asset refurbishment projects on behalf of Network Rail and United Utilities. Peter enjoys the opportunity afforded by this type of work to communicate with landowners on a one to one basis.

Gary Conaghan

Gary joined Berrys in November 2007 as the assistant property manager in the estates management team with Adam Farnsworth. Working from the Kettering Office, Gary is involved in the day to day management of the property portfolios which are predominantly rural based but with a number of urban properties. His work includes property lettings, inspections and maintenance.

Richard has long been established in Northampton and joined Berry’s in 2007 when his practice became part of the Berrys Group. Richard has extensive experience in providing advice on all property related matters, and in particular property valuation and development.

James Fulton BSc(Hons) MRICS FAAV
Rural Business, Farms & Diversification and Estate Management, Kettering Office
James joined Berrys Kettering Office in November 2004 working closely with Jon Stables managing the in hand farms and providing advice to farmers on DEFRA schemes including Single Farm Payment, ELS and HLS. He has a keen interest in commodity marketing and business management, and enjoys the job as he gets to spend time both in the office, meeting clients and field walking. James is also involved in the management of let agricultural property dealing with Landlord and Tenant issues and bringing a business focus approached to the traditional estate management clients. James completed a degree in agriculture at Nottingham University and since joining Berrys has been admitted as a Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, a Fellow of the Central Association of Agricultural Valuers and a member of the British Institute of Agricultural Consultants.

IT Manager, Kettering Office
Tom joined Berrys at the Kettering Office in November 2004, after two years as Project Manager for Fairfield Control Systems, and previously working for Syngenta Biotechnology, Nottingham Trent University, and The University of Nottingham. Tom manages and develops the IT and communication infrastructure and systems for the organisation. Tom is a member of the British Computer Society and the Chartered Management Institute, a PRINCE2 qualified practitioner (http://www.p2registeredpractitioner.com) and is currently studying towards ITIL v3 certification, and for his MCSE and CCNA.

Tony Gray
Consultant - Commercial & Valuations, Towcester Office
Before opening his own practice in 1990, Tony Gray was Chief Commercial Surveyor and Deputy Chief Estates Surveyor to the Northampton Development Corporation between 1970 and 1984. He was responsible for the development and disposal of industrial sites at Moulton Park, Round Spinney and Brackmills, and for the leasing and sale of factory schemes. On the wind-up of the Development Corporation in 1984, when the assets in Northampton were transferred to the New Towns Commission, he took on the role of Chief Executive for the Northampton Estate under the Commission. He has vast experience in dealing with estate development, commercial property management, and the sale and leasing of all types of commercial property. The merger of his businesses with Berrys took place in October 2008 and he now continues to operate under the Berrys’ title from the Towcester Office.

Geoffrey Jackson FRICS

Geoffrey joined Berrys in August 2004 when his firm of Sutcliffe & Company was acquired. Working from the Northwich Office he continues to deal with gas pipelines, now on behalf of National Grid in the North West and United Utilities in the North East. He also continues to deal with management primarily related to the various flat management companies, together with some commercial management.

Paul Johnson MA (Cantab) MA TP MRTPI

Paul joined Berrys in January 2008 after nearly 5 years experience in Local Government as a Planning Officer with various Councils in Cambridgeshire. Paul holds a Masters Degree in Geography from Cambridge University and a Masters Degree in Town Planning from the University of Westminster, and is a chartered town planner with full membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute. Paul is based in the Kettering Office, but also works closely with and supports the Northampton and Towcester offices, delivering planning appraisals, planning applications, appeals, strategic site representations through the development plan process, and all manner of planning support for clients in both rural and urban locations.

Heather is a freelance agricultural journalist and public relations consultant and works part time for Berrys based at the Shrewsbury Office. She is also editor of the monthly farming magazine, The Farmer. She delivers Berrys communication programme, preparing press releases and promotion material to spread the word about all aspects of Berrys work through national farming press, regional media and events.

David joined Berrys Northwich Office in September 2008, and is nearing the end of an MSc in Rural Enterprise and Land Management at Harper Adams as he works towards full membership of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors. After graduating from the University of Bath with a BSc in Biology, he sees surveying as a profession he is keen to pursue a career in. David works alongside Peter Baron in the Utilities sector of the business assisting in compensation claims and valuations. Stephen joined Berrys in 2001 having previously worked as a consultant in the Environmental and Professional Services divisions of ADAS since 1989. He manages a number of corporate contracts as well as delivering professional advice to many private clients.

Sarah joined Berrys in spring 2003, a honours graduate in Business & French from the University of Wales, Bangor. She specialises mainly in Estate Management, letting and managing a wide variety of both urban and rural property throughout the North West. Sarah also assists Graham Bowcock in agency, compulsory purchase, compensation and other professional matters. She commenced studying towards her RICS membership in October.

Clare joined the Shrewsbury Office in April 2006 having graduated from Harper Adams in 2003 with a degree in Rural Enterprise and Land Management, and for the past three years has been working in the Agricultural Team at Barclays Bank in Shrewsbury. Clare has been assisting Chris Jones and Sarah Reece with many aspects of professional work including valuations, compensation claims and farm sales. Clare is a Mmember of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) and has also become a fellow of the Central Association of Agricultural Valuers (CAAV).

Sarah Reece MRICS FAAV

Sarah Reece joined Berrys in 2003 having graduated with an honours degree in Rural Estate Management from Seale Hayne. She is a member of the RICS and fellow of the CAAV, and as part of Berrys Shropshire Office, Sarah works on property valuations and sales, management and other professional services including compensation.

Sarah is from a farming family and enjoyed riding, and hunting over Salisbury Plain from an early age. Sarah enjoys riding her own horse and is a keen follower of point to pointing.

“I believe there are a vast number of property and horse owners who do not have the benefit of specialist equestrian advice to assist them in selling, managing and operating their property and business" said Sarah.

Sarah enjoys combining her understanding for property and passion for equestrian pursuits to provide the best equestrian property and business services through Berrys Equestrian.

Duncan Scott FRICS

Senior practitioner specialising in Charities Act valuation work
Duncan Scott FRICS is an experienced commercial property and valuation surveyor specialising in Charities Act valuation work and advice. He joined Berrys as a senior practitioner in December 2009 following the group’s merger with C & S Surveyors, the chartered surveyors business he ran with Jonanthan Carpenter at Towcester. He is a former Berrys employee having worked for the firm in the 1970s.
Over the past few years he has acted for many of the UK’s leading charities offering advice on a range of property matters.  In particular, he has arranged many valuations to comply with Section 36 of the 1993 Charities Act, required where the charity is to sell property or where it has been appropriated to them. 
He will continue this role as head of Berrys’ new Charities Department and can also offer advice in all property matters including conducting surveys, preparing schedules of condition and he can assist with the management of all types of property, be it commercial or residential. 
The charities department can assist Executors of Estates and charities directly in the disposal of residential and commercial property by overseeing the sale of charity property, employing the services of a local agent where appropriate.
In addition to legacy property matters Duncan can also advise charities in the disposal and acquisition of branch charity shops as well as handling dilapidation claims, rent reviews and all landlord and tenant issues.

Amanda joined Berrys Shrewsbury in 2000 after completing her degree in Rural Enterprise and Land Management at Harper Adams. Since starting at Berrys, Amanda has been involved in many aspects of rural business, property, and professional work.  She now works closely with Stephen Locke, specialising in environmental consultancy, planning and development, rural business, diversification projects, and grant funding.
