A Shropshire firm of chartered surveyors continues to expand with the appointment of an additional practitioner at its Shrewsbury office.
Berrys has appointed John Cooke as a trainee surveyor following a successful placement year with the firm in 2008/9. John, 22, from St. Georges, Telford is a keen motor cycle racer and currently holds the British 50cc championship.

John, 22, is currently completing an honours degree in Rural Enterprise and Land Management at Harper Adams University College and will primarily be assisting Stephen Locke and Amanda Seedhouse with planning and environment consultancy at the Shrewsbury Business Park office.
He is enrolled on the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) Assessment of Professional Competence and will be working towards full membership of the RICS and Central Association of Agricultural Valuers (CAAV) over the coming months.
“We are delighted to welcome John to our growing team,” said Stephen Locke, who leads the planning and environment team at Shrewsbury.
“Despite the economic difficulties, the Berrys brand continues to flourish and we have expanded a number of our specialist teams to further enhance the quality of service we offer,” he said.
Berrys also has offices in East Midlands and North West and has just expanded its utilities team based at Northwich, Cheshire to cater for the increasing demand for compulsory purchase and compensation work in that sector.
John won the 50 cc British championship accolade last month (July) after racking up the highest number of points in a five-race series riding for the London based Team UFO Racing. He also competes in road races across the country on his own 125 cc motorbike and is hoping his major win will lead to more sponsorship. He also enjoys fishing and cycling.
