Property selling is going high tech with the use of QR bar codes to communicate details of properties through mobile and smartphones.
The technique has been adopted by Shrewsbury chartered surveyors Berrys to enable prospective buyers to more easily access the property particulars they are looking for.
The first sign board with the QR code was launched this week (Feb 9) by Berrys outside the property Pigeon Door near Condover.
“We believe that we are the first property agent to adopt the technology and we are hoping it will help prospective buyers find the information they need much more quickly,” said Sarah Reece, associate partner with Berrys at Shrewsbury Business Park.
A QR Code (stands for Quick Response) is a specific bar code readable by camera phones. The phone, when equipped with an appropriate reader application, can scan the image of the QR code which will take it straight to the relevant web page.
“We are going to print QR codes on all our signboards allowing passersby to simply point their smart phone at this code and get immediate access to the property details, a PDF brochure, the price and a contact phone number.
“Already clients who have seen the codes have told us that they will make finding property details so much easier and they can’t believe no one else is using them!
“This revolutionary launch is just one example of Berrys’ constantly evolving marketing strategy. This, along with social media use, video blogging and a regularly updated website, allows us to market our clients’ properties in a unique and bespoke way,” she added
The QR code is a ‘hard’ link and equivalent to clicking on a link on a website. These codes are widely used in Japan and are gaining popularity. QR code apps are available on a large number of smartphones, making the use of QR codes extremely simple, revolutionising the way business is carried out.
