Deadline looms for Single Payment applications

With the deadline for Single Payment applications looming, farmers are being urged to complete their forms now rather than wait until the last minute.

Applications must be submitted by midnight, May 16. Any failure to do so will jeopardise the single payment and there is no room for error.

The message comes from Sarah Reece at Berrys in Shrewsbury where applications are being completed online this year to put clients at the top of the queue for validation and payment.

“We are advocating online applications which have the important benefit of being validated as soon as they are submitted which we hope will speed up the payment process for our clients,” said Sarah.

“Our door is always open so farmers can just give us a call and our specialists can help fill out the forms or answer any queries they may have.”

Berrys completes hundreds of applications for clients and already this year many forms have been successfully validated.

“We invested a lot of time last year getting the maps right for our clients so I am hopeful that the vast majority of our applications can be completed online without having to submit additional documents to the Rural Payments Agency (RPA).

“A large number of our clients were paid on December 1 last year and we are working closely with the RPA to ensure the majority receive their money as soon as the payment window opens this year too,” she added.
