Marcus joined Berrys in October 2011 as a Senior Practitioner in their Towcester Office to further enhance Berrys’ rural agency and professional practice in the south Northants/ north Bucks area, whilst also supporting the office’s established valuation department. He is a Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, and a Registered Valuer, plus a Fellow of the Central Association of Agricultural Valuers. Marcus was brought up in the Towcester area and has background that includes a broad spectrum of professional work, valuation and estate management advice. He is able to advise on the sale and purchase of rural and development property, whether by private sale or auction. Working with land owners and developers, Marcus has practical experience on a diverse range of planning and development projects, providing advice on small and medium scale schemes, plus Option and Promotion Agreements. Since 2010 Marcus has independently advised affected property owners on all aspects of the proposed High Speed 2 (HS2) rail link, and acted as an Independent Valuer for HS2.

Matthew joined Berrys in July 2010 as company IT manager based in the Kettering office. He has previously worked in London in IT positions in the IT Service management sector and media sector. He graduated from Liverpool University with a BA Hons degree in Economics. He is a Microsoft Certified Systems engineer and is ITIL v3 certified at foundation level.

Interestingly enough Duncan commenced his career and subsequently qualified with Berrys back in the mid 1970’s. He then joined a firm of Surveyors and Estate Agents with six offices in Northamptonshire and Milton Keynes eventually becoming a senior partner. In the 1990’s he left the profession and trained as a commercial airline pilot flying for a number of well known airlines worldwide. Following this he rejoined the surveying profession and ran his own business specialising in valuation work particularly for the National Charities during which time he developed a network of Chartered Surveyors carrying out valuations for many of the leading banks and building societies. Duncan rejoined Berrys at the end of 2009 and now carries out general valuation work on private residential and commercial property. He has set us a specialist Charity Department acting for many of the UK’s leading Charities offering advice on all property matters including legacy issues. Duncan is a keen musician and has played in a local band for many years

Born and schooled close to our Kettering headquarters, Mark joins Berrys with over 30 years residential estate agency experience.   His work history makes for interesting reading, with a decade as a business owner, and two years with Knight Frank in Bangkok and Madrid.  He began his agency career in Northamptonshire with Kilroy’s and then Scott Pinkham, before moving overseas.  His experience within the areas of property sales, lettings, land planning, building plots and country house sales will help provide Berrys with a further presence within the property market.

Matt has 22 years experience in providing specialist advice to landowners and farmers, regarding the Agricultural Holdings Act 1986, and Agricultural Tenancies Act 1995.  He also has extensive experience in valuations for loan security, tax planning and sale and business reorganisation.  Matt is a specialist business consultant, providing strategic advice to farm businesses including asset restructuring, business structures, contract farming and alternative land tenure arrangements.  Financial planning including cashflow and balance sheet analysis, forecasting and business plan preparation.  Matt graduated from University of London with a BSc (Hons) in Agricultural Business Management, and then from the University of Reading with a Postgraduate Diploma in Surveying.  Matt is a member of the RICS, the Institute of Agricultural Management, and the Agricultural Law Association, and a fellow of the Central Association of Agricultural Valuers.  He was appointed by the RICS to the Panel of Rural Arbitrators, and was appointed Managing Partner of Berrys in 2008.

Jon has a number of years’ experience providing specialist business and management advice to private and corporate clients. He has extensive knowledge in agri and farm business and manages approximately 10,000 acres in hand on behalf of farmers, landowners and investment clients.  His experience covers management consultancy, strategic business planning, business analysis and restructuring and asset management. He is also experienced in the provision of valuation for security and taxation purposes and all forms of land tenure agreements. Jon graduated from London University, is a member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, fellow of the Central Association of Agricultural Valuers, member of the Institute of Agricultural Management and a member of the British Institute of Agricultural Consultants.  Jon is corporate partner of Berrys and a member of the Management Board.

Graham began his working life at the Royal Agricultural College in Cirencester, graduating from a course in Rural Estate Manangement in 1988, before qualifying as a member of the RICS in 1991.  In 1993, he founded AG Bowcock & Co. which merged with Berrys in 2001.  Graham manages the Northwich office, and is one of three managing partners who make up the board. Graham is an AMC valuer, an expert tenancy advisor and a property management specialist.  He is also a spokesman for the RICS PR department.

Nick is from a Lincolnshire farming background, graduating from the Royal Agricultural College, Cirencester, with a diploma in Rural Estate Management in 1977.

Nick became a fellow of the RICS in 1979, is a fellow of the Central Association of Agricultural Valuers and a past President of Midland Counties Valuers.

Having spent nearly all his professional life working in Northamptonshire, Nick now specialises in identifying and developing planning opportunities, advising private clients across a range of issues, is a registered Valuer with the RICS and co-ordinates the farm agency department in the Kettering office.

Paul has been with Berrys and predecessor firms since 1971 and specialises in Arbitration and Expert Witness advocacy being a member of the Lord Chancellor’s panel of Arbitrators.  He also works in the areas of Valuations and Inspection on behalf of AMC plc, Lloyds TSB, NWS Bank, NFU Mutual Ltd and others.  His work includes Financial and Agricultural Business Management, for arable and livestock farms, as well as general business management, reports and business plans, restructuring of agricultural finance, loan applications for purchase and working capital.  He also works within the Consultancy & Professional Services and Landlord & Tenant areas under the Agricultural Holdings Act 1986 and Agricultural Tenancies Act 1995.   Paul was the RICS Rural Practice Divisional President in 1997, as well as co-author of various technical papers for RICS on rent under the Agricultural Holdings Act 1986.

Adam Farnsworth has been involved the rural and property sector for Berrys for more than two decades.  He graduated from The Royal Agricultural College with a 1st, following his first degree in International Politics from UCW. He started as a rural valuer and sheep auctioneer with Berrys in the South West . As a Member of the RICS and fellow of the Central Association of Agricultural Valuers, he has worked across all the areas within the rural sector but has developed a specialism in Landlord & Tenant issues, valuations for all purposes, property management, agency in all property sectors and professional general practice for private and institutional clients. Frances joins as a graduate practitioner based at the Northwich office to work alongside Graham Bowcock.

Frances joins following completion of a Masters in Business Management, and an honours degree in Equine Science at Aberystwyth University.  Her degree, combined with her interest in all things equestrian, and her family background of pheasant farming, means that she will bring an interesting and informed insight into all rural aspects of Berrys’ work.

Frances will be working with private and corporate clients, preparing tenancies and conducting rent reviews, as well as tackling every aspect of the equestrian side of the business.

Andrew joins our utilities department in the Northwich office, following 5 years in mixed practice and as an auctioneer for Frank Marshall & Co.  He graduated Harper Adams REALM course in 2005, and qualified MRICS in April 2007.  He specialises in Single Farm Payment, Entry Level Stewardship, land management and sales.  He is a member and former chairman of Knutsford Young Farmers, and the chair of the Cheshire YFC Agricultural Discussion Group.  He has a family farm on the edge of Exmoor with beef, sheep and arable, providing him with valuable knowledge and experience regarding every aspect of our agricultural work.

John started work at Berrys’ Shrewsbury office in July 2010 as a graduate practitioner following a successful placement year with the firm where he assisted Amanda Seedhouse and Stephen Locke with planning, environmental and renewable energy work.

Having graduated from Harper Adams University College with an honours degree in Rural Enterprise and Land Management, he is currently working towards full membership of the RICS and CAAV and assists Matthew Anwyl with Valuation, business consultancy, environmental stewardship and AMC finance.

Outside Berrys, John is a keen cyclist and also competes in motorcycle road racing at international level.

Elliw joins Berrys from Harper Adams following completion of a HND in Rural Enterprise and Land Management. She joins Peter Baron within the Utilities department of the Northwich office, working on compulsory purchase and compensation issues. Elliw is fluent in both English and Welsh, and is available for translation with Welsh clients. She is an active member of the YFC, and was a member of the Welsh cycling team.

Andrew qualified with the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors in 1993, and has been based in the Northamptonshire area since 1989.  He has an honours degree in Geography from the University of Ulster, and studied for his PgDipVal at Sheffield Hallam University.  He is a respected member of the RICS and served on their branch committee. In addition he has represented England and Great Britain at full bore target rifle shooting, and is a qualified triathlon coach. He works from our Northampton office dealing with commercial property.

Emily joined Berrys in June 2008, originally taking on an agency development and administration role, before becoming marketing manager. She has recently completed a Professional Certificate from the Chartered Institute of Marketing, and is focused on developing awareness of the Berrys brand, through digital and traditional marketing.  In May 2011 she became our Marketing Manager.

Paul graduated from Cambridge University with a Masters degree in Geography, before graduating University of Westminster with a Masters degree in Town Planning.  He joined Berrys as Senior Planning Practitioner, following progression within local authorities from Informal Enquiries Officer to Planning Officer.  Highlights of his career include achievement of planning permission for 24 dwellings in Northamptonshire for Francis Jackson Estates and being asked to be part of a ‘best practice’ English Heritage document on the value of negotiation and Conservation Areas whilst at Berrys.  His work includes supporting existing private and estate clients to deliver planning applications, strategic land promotion through the development plan process, Listed Building Consents, Certificate of Lawful Use and development and planning advice.  He is also a fully Chartered Member of the Royal Town Planning Institute.

Rachel joined Berrys’ Shrewsbury office in August 2006 after completing a degree at University of Wales, Aberystwyth in Environmental Science (BSc Hons).  She mainly works assisting Matt Anwyl in a range of professional services, including AMC and bank Valuations, landlord and tenant issues, and within the planning and development area.  Rachel has also taken on an IT role, assisting Tom Geraghty with development and problem resolution.  She combines full time work with study for an Environmental Law Masters (LLM) at the University of Aberystwyth, and is currently preparing her dissertation on the effect legislation has on sustainable agricultural production.  Outside of Berrys, Rachel is Chairman of Shawbury YFC (2009-2010) while taking an active role in the Shropshire Federation of YFC.  During the summer months, she plays cricket for Forton Ladies team in the Birmingham Midlands League, and has an interest in country sports, shooting in particular.

Stephen graduated in from Seale Hayne College, Devon with a Diploma in Rural Resource Management in 1990, and went on to graduate from Harper Adams College with a BSc Hons Degree in Rural Enterprise and Land Management in 1993.  He then qualified as a Member of the RICS and a Fellow of the CAAV, before joining the Berrys Shrewsbury office as a senior practitioner in 2001.  Stephen became an Associate Partner in 2007, and is currently the lead consultant for a small team of planning and environment specialists. His key areas of work include planning and development work, forestry, diversification and grants consultancy, environmental consultancy, and general rural business and rural practice advice. In 2007 he won the CLA Rural Buildings Award Scheme and he is a lecturer for the Shropshire Freshstart Academy farm business training scheme.  In addition he is on the RICS RECAP committee providing training for fellow professionals, and is the Secretary of his local village residents association.  Stephen became a Berrys partner in October 2011.

Sarah was appointed associate partner at the Shrewsbury office in 2009, and works mainly alongside Chris Jones.  Areas of work she is involved in include property sales (farms, land and equestrian properties), valuations (for banks, lending institutions & private clients), compulsory purchase & compensation within the utility division, and general rural property advice including Single Payment Scheme applications.  Sarah acts on behalf of a range of private clients, utility companies and national organisations including Network Rail.  Sarah is a Committee Member of Shropshire & Montgomeryshire Agricultural Valuers Association, and a member of the RICS.  In addition, she obtained an honours degree in Rural Estate Management from Seale. Outside Berrys she is interested in racing, horse riding and shooting.
